Since I'm finished rambling about, lets talk about baseball. If your ever curious about looking up how long ago baseball started, it might take you awhile to find out about its origin. According to the official JackieRobinson website, there is an illustration of clerics playing a game similar to baseball. In 1889 baseball had became segregated having a Negro League for African American players. This went on until the year 1947, when Brooklyn Dodgers President, Branch Rickey decided to spice up the national league. Jackie Robinson of Pasadena, California, became the first African American to play in the Major League.
In, the movie, young Robinson goes through a lot of the racial slurs, players noting wanting to be in the same vicinity as Robinson, just because of the color of his skin. It's just crazy how far we have came since then, but racscism still exists in this world. Of course, today we don't have segregation laws like they did in the past, but it has twisted into something else that I find unsettling. You see a lot of people complaining about gay marriage, hate crimes, and yes racial profiling. When is the end? Will we ever see it in our time?
Well, the impact that Jackie Robinson left on Major League baseball, makes you think that there is hope. He not only became an idle for young African American boys, he opened peoples hearts, and let them realize that he was just another man trying to provide for his family and make a living. I'm seeing progress and hope for equality though. When I attend music festivals and see the vast luminous body of colorful people, it gives the sensation of when you move into that brand new home. If you stumbled upon this blog, then hopefully you can understand where I am coming from. We all need to do something out of our nature to reach out to different cultures. The point of this whole blog is to teach people that are not aware, that there are all types of wonderful people in this world. If it means going to a club, playing a game of golf, or just striking up a conversation with someone that is not of the same ethnicity. You may or may be suprised to know that we are alike in some way. You're just going have to keep an open mind, and the rest of the peices will fall into place.
